53RD MERDEKA DAY CELEBRATION IN PENANG

This morning saw a parade comprising school principals as representative for the State Education Department. The Merdeka parade was held at Fort Cornwallis and there were many contingents representing various government and non-government organizations.
This year the Senior Assistant for Co-curriculum represented the school principal in the march past as flag bearer.

53RD INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2010
The event started with an assembly where the students sang the patriotic songs with fervour with some waving the 'jalur gemilang' patriotically. After that there were speeches and giving of prizes and certificates for winners of the quiz, patriotic songs competition and best decorated classroom by the principal Mr. Gan
It was a great day where all the teachers and students sang together harmoniously in the spirit of 1 Malaysia. "Merdeka!, Merdeka!, Merdeka!"

The school's mentor Tuan Haji Jamaluddin, the principal of Bukit Mertajam High School visited the school this morning to mentor and share his knowledge on the SIP partnership programme aim at improving the performance of the school in all areas.
With the co-operation of everyone in the school, it is possible for the school to improve in all areas in the near future. Let's work together to bring the school to the next level.

VISIT TO RUMAH P.RAMLEE 2010

A bus load of students paid a visit to P.Ramlee's House recently in conjunction with a workshop and talk on the history of Boria in Penang. Before the talk the students were given a tour of the legendary P. Ramlee's house.
It was a fruitful day for the students and also the teachers accompanying them as they learnt not only about the late P.Ramlee but also the history of Boria. The students also took pictures with pets at the compound. A big thank you to the teachers who went with the students

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MR. GAN
Prefects of the school gave the school principal a belated birthday cake this morning as he was away for meeting last week. They gathered at the office and sang the birthday song in front of Mr. Gan.
Then it was followed by blowing of the candle and later the prefects presented Mr. Gan with a home made gigantic birthday card.
Happy Birthday Mr. Gan, may you continue to enjoy good health and bring the school to greater heights.

MOTIVATIONAL TALK ON ACCOUNTS
Mr. Sri Ram SMKA Al-Mashoor(L) paid the school a visit on the invitation of the Counselling Unit. He gave an inspiring talk on how to tackle Accounts questions to form 4B and 5B students. The students learnt about the technique of answering challenging and tough questions.
Thank you Mr. Sri Ram for taking time off to be with the students. Your vast experience in this subject will be a great help to the students.

The school is enveloped by the merdeka fervour with students diligently decorating their classes to grab the limelight as there is a competition for the best decorated class in conjunction with the 53rd Merdeka celebration.
The school has also put up flags at various vantage points to create the mood and whipped up feelings of patriotism among the students and staff for this year's celebration with the theme " 1 Malaysia Menjana Transformasi."

MOTIVATIONAL TALK FOR SPM STUDENTS

Mr. Ng of Chung Hwa Confucian gave an inspiring talk to the fifth formers this morning on the techniques of answering the SPM 1119 English paper. His talk was both entertaining and motivating. Students learnt a lot from him especially on how to get marks for directed and continuous writing,. He also touched on the section on literature. After that it was followed by a talk by Ms. Loo of SMK Tanjung Bungah. She gave a talk on how to tackle the science paper for SPM students especially those in 5B and 5C. Finally the session ended with a talk on the Commerce paper before the students adjourned for lunch provided by the school. A big thank you to all the facilitators who took their precious time off to share their knowledge and experience with the students. Photos showing the event.

TALK ON CERVICAL CANCER 2010
Nurses from the North East District Health Department visited the school and gave a talk on cervical cancer prevention to all the form one girls. They were given tips mostly on preventive measures. Thank you to all the nurses for a job well-done. Photos showing the event.
