During the school inaugural Canteen and Information Day 2011, the prancing "lions" of the school came acalling at the school office. It was to "bless" the office and bring more prosperity too. It was quite a rare occasion but nevertheless it was with good intention. Photos showing the event. CANTEEN N INFO DAY 2011
The school had a Canteen and Information Day yesterday much to the delight of those parents, students and public who came to soak in the fun. For the first time an uninvited icon of the school dubbed the SHZA fairy made a maiden appearance much to the amusement and also displeasure of some. All in all it was a day of fun and it showed what co-operation and unity could do for the school. BM MOTIVATIONAL TALK 2011 FOR PMR STUDENTS

This morning saw a facilitator from SMK Tunku Puan Habsah giving a motivational talk to PMR students at the multi-media room. It was an invitation by the Counselling Unit of the school. Students who will be sitting for the coming PMR examination picked up invaluable tips from the facilitator. The school wishes to thank the facilitator for taking time off to come to the school. Pada 25 Julai 2011, jam 1.30 petang, Persatuan Pendidikan Islam telah menganjurkan suatu ceramah yang bertajuk ‘Persediaan Menghadapi Bulan Ramadhan’ yang telah disampaikan oleh Ustaz Mohd Shukri bertempat di surau SMKHZA.
Ceramah ini bertujuan untuk memberi pendedahan kepada para pelajar tentang persediaan untuk menghadapi ibadat puasa sepanjang bulan Ramadhan nanti. Persediaan tersebut adalah dari segi aspek rohani dan jasmani. Para pelajar memberi perhatian dan kerjasama yang baik sepanjang ceramah berlangsung. Program tersebut tamat pada jam 2.30 petang.
COMMERCE MOTIVATIONAL TALK 2011
The counselling unit of the school conducted a motivational talk for students taking Commerce and an experienced facilitator from a neighbouring school was roped in to help. Students were given pointers on how to get more marks for their answers. Photos showing the event.

PENANG INCLUSION ORCHESTRA 2011

Yesterday saw a number of the school students taking part on their own in the Penang Inclusion Orchestra. They had a rehearsal in the morning at Dewan Sri Pinang before the real performance at 2.30pm. Despite the rain, the hall was almost full. Astro also covered the event which will be aired on 31st August 2011 on channel 381. The concert was for charity and also in conjunction with the Georgetown Heritage festival 2011. The popular school hip-hop group "UNKNOWN" was featured in the Thursday StarMetro on page 11. They performed at the Dewan Budaya, USM recently for charity under Jammin' Sensation and St. Nicholas' Home. Bravo boys and may you continue to progress and dance more for charity. This morning the fifth-formers of the school were given a motivational talk on answering techniques for SPM History papar 1 and 2. The facilitator was an experience teacher with years of experience as a teacher and examiner. Hopefully the students picked up a pointer or two from the talk. This morning saw the students who took part in the recent commerce quiz organized by the Commerce Panel of the school during the official assembly. BOYS' BRIGADE EXPEDITION 2011
The Boys' Brigade of the school had an expedition around the neighbourhood recently guided by senior members from the senior members from Air Itam Troop Headquarter. The members went around the vicinity of the school to gather information like the kind of trees and leaves, the number of schools and other information as part of the project. In conjunction with the Georgetown Festival 2011, Piano World Music Centre is doing a concert with warrior and legendary music as the theme. The concert will be held on 24th July 2011 at Dewan Sri Pinang, Penang at 2.30pm. Some students of the school especially those in the Music Club are involved. Those who are keen to soak in this traditional and legendary music can purchase the tickets from the Piano World Music Centre or from the Senior Assistant for Co-curriculum. MIGHTY MINDS CHALLENGE 2011
Three fifth-formers of the school took part in The Star Mighty Minds Challenge at the 1st Avenue Mall in Komtar yesterday on the 8th Floor known as Cloud 8. Thirty over schools from both the lower and upper secondary schools all over Penang took part. It was a hive of activities as every participants of the schools tried to outdo one another to enter the final. It was a good exposure for the students of the school. Despite not entering the final, they could walk tall as they were the first batch of students taking part. A word of thanks to the teacher accompanying the students. TRAVELLING TEACHER 2011

This morning saw a travelling teacher of Australian origin popping into the school to share his experiences with selected students of the school at the multi-media room. His name is Mr. Andre and he could speak a smattering Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, Hokkien and Thai. he claimed to have two sisters in Slovenia where he was brought up. He has a voracious appetite for Malaysian food especially the non-spicy type like roti canai, noodle soup and teh tarik.

The school was recently bestowed with two certificates of appreciation for academic achievement in the 2010 PMR and SPM examinations during the North East District teachers' day celebration held at the Sunshine Square Banquet Hall. DRAWING COMPETITION 2011
Recently the Art and Craft Panel organized a drawing competition in the school. Students were encouraged to take part. The results were announced and prizes were given to the winners during the assembly. Photos showing the winners.

NEW TEACHERS 2011
Recently two new teachers were posted to the school to replace the two teachers who left the school. A teacher was transferred to the mainland while another had retired. Ustazah Fazlina was transferred to the mainland while Madam Lim had retired. The school wishes to welcome two new teachers viz Ustazah Nurul Hazwani and Puan Watriah. UNKNOWN ROCKS AT TAR COLLEGE 2011

The school hiphop group "Unknown" got second placing in the High School Musical 3 "My School Rocks"dance contest held this afternoon at the Tunku Abdul Rahman College. The contest was organized by the Astro Disney Channel. The hall was packed to the brim and was a sea of din and colours. The music was blaring to the cheer, scream and whistle. The ambience was explosive from the start to the end. A busload of supporters also went to provide moral support. PARENTS MEETING DAY 2011
This morning saw many parents turning up at school to collect the report cards of their children. Some parents had earlier joined in the 1 Student 1 Sport 1 Malaysia Run 2011. They were treated to a scrumptious breakfast before meeting with the respective form teacher. Parents who wanted to know about their children's discipline were cordially entertained to the respective discipline teacher. All in all it was a day of goodwill and fun. Photos showing the event.

1 STUDENT 1 SPORT 1 MALAYSIA RUN 2011
The 1 Student, 1 Sport, 1 Malaysia run was successfully carried out this morning as the weather was very conducive and cooling. Many parents also came to support the run and teachers, support staff and even the canteen man joined in the run. As the photos show everyone was smiling during the run. After that , a tug-of-war competition was carried out among the 4 sport houses. The Blue House emerged as the champion house in the event. The PTA chairman, Vice chairman and the school principal presented the medals and prizes to the winners. It was a great day.
