Form 4 student of the school Ooi Vin Shern was featured in The Star Metro dated 30June 2011 on page 10 together with ex-student Tan Seng Keong. Both of them are members of the St. John Ambulance and they diligently put in 1,000 hours of community work to earn the Special Service Shield on Sunday. They were also sworn in as part of the Cadet's Code of Chivalry. Well-done boys. Keep it up.

CO-OPERATIVE DAY 2011
This morning saw the launching the of the school's Co-operative Day for 2011. There was a tree-planting ceremony, opening ceremony, special sale and presentation of prizes and gifts. There was also a special sale at the Co-op Store. Students were seen crowding the store during recess. There will also be a special sale on this coming Saturday in conjunction with the 1 Student 1 Sport 1 Malaysia Run. Photos showing the event.

IN-HOUSE TRAINING 2011
This afternoon saw an in-house training for the staff and teachers being carried out in the meeting room on one student, one sport. Teachers were being prepared for the nationwide run to be carried on this coming Saturday.

PMR SCIENCE MOTIVATIONAL TALK 2011

Mr. Su of SMK Mak Mandin was invited by the Counselling Unit of the school to give a motivational talk to students preparing for the coming PMR examination. Form 3A and 3B students sat aptly at the multimedia room to soak into the vast experience of Mr. Su who readily shared his expertise on the subject. All in all it was an enriching session and hopefully the students emerged well armed with the skills of doing well in the exam. Photos showing the event.

MPV OFFICERS VISIT 2011
This morning saw a visit by officers from the Examination Board and also officers from the State Education Department. It was a visit relating to the teaching of motor servicing course offered by the school or in short MPV. On hand to receive the officers was the school principal. The officers later visited the school motor repair workshop for a first hand look at the facilities available. Photos showing the officers.

PTA MEET 2011

This afternoon saw members of the PTA gathered at the meeting room to discuss the impending Canteen cum Information Day 2011 to be held at the school premises on the 30th July 2011 from 8am to 2pm. The meeting saw many fruitful ideas being put forward and proposed for the benefits of all. The main purpose of the Canteen Day is to raise funds for putting a roof over the assembly area so that more activities can be carried out in comfort and not at the mercy of the elements such as hot sun and rain as the school sorely lacks a hall. Hopefully all students and parents will come forward to make this event a success. Tickets will be on sale soon. Photos showing the event.

CONSUMER CLUB VISIT 2011

Recently members of the Consumer Club visit the Silver Jubilee old folks home in Sungai Dua, Penang. They were accompanied by two teacher-advisors. At the home they went around helping to keep the place keep, entertaining and also attending to the needs of the folks at the home.
After that they went to the Queensbay Mall where they were put into groups to "shop" wisely. At the end of the day, they had to present their accounts and the reasons for the purchase. All in all it was a day well spent.

ANNUAL SPORT DAY 2011
The weather was in its best element this morning and the school had its annual Sport Day at USM. Everything went on smoothly without a hitch and ended well at about 12.30 pm. The champion house is the Red House. The best march past team is the Fire Brigade cadets. The school is proud that all the teachers and students together with the support staff worked hand in hand to make this annual event a success. This morning the school had a rehearsal in preparation for the 38th Annual School Sports 2011. The weather was fine and everything went on smooth. Both teachers and students diligently took part and made sure everything was in order for the "big' day which is on Thursday 23 June 2011 at USM, Penang. Photos showing the rehearsal.

The weather this afternoon was just prefect for the Standard Sports to be carried out. Specially selected students from respective houses tried to outdo each other by jumping higher, throwing further and jumping further in the long jump pit. As the school annual sport day is just a week away, this acts as a run up to the yearly event to be held at USM, Penang. Photos showing the event.

FIRE BRIGADE ACHIEVEMENT 2011

The school fire brigade came in as 1st runner-up in a marching competition organized by the district education department which took place at SMK Air Itam last month. It was a proud moment for the fire brigade cadets who outclassed other cadets in term of discipline and pattern formation. PROUD MOMENT 2011
It was a proud moment for fifth former Lee Kar Theng when she received her Queen Guide Certificate from the school principal during the official assembly this morning. It was an accumulation of 4 to 5 years of hardwork that she finally made it with the guidance of the teacher advisor.
She had personally received the certificate from the wife of the PM Datik Paduka Seri Rosmah Mansor on 31 May 2011 at the G Hotel in Penang.

4th of June 2011 will always be remembered by ex-student Banurega as it was her wedding to Mr. Kesavan. The wedding reception was held at College general in Tanjung Bungah. It was an elaborate wedding dinner with live singers to entertain the crowd. To Banurega and Kesavan, we wish you a happy marriage, a marriage filled with warmth, love and happiness. Ex-principal Mr. Gan was in the StarMetro page 11 dated 1 June 2011. It was in conjunction with the MBS school 120th Anniversary celebration and also the opening of the MBS Heritage Centre. The coffee table book entitled 'Our Heritage' was also launched.
