KOLEJ T6 HAJI ZAINUL ABIDIN

The society had its first meet on Saturday at 9.00am. Mr. Ho and Mr. Thong from NI came to coach about 24 members who turned up. The teacher-advisor was also present.

This morning saw the board of prefects doing a dry run of their impending installation which will be held after the Chinese New Year. It was a good trial run as they have to get used to the formation already fixed for them.

They were drilled under the watchful eyes of their advisors.

This is a circular to parents regarding CNY holidays.

Two staff of Multimedia University of Malaysia or MMU came to the school this morning and gave a talk on career path. Students were also given information on how to apply for scholarship at the university to pursue the courses that they like to take. All in all, it was a fruitful morning for the fifth formers as they will be graduating from the school soon. Hopefully they will choose the course that will give them a better future. TO ALL CHINESE TEACHERS, STAFF AND STUDENTS

A group of gradutes from USM Penang came to the school under AIESEC to give a talk about HIV/AIDS awareness. Students were also given forms to fill at the end of the briefing.

The school wishes to extend our warmest welcome to the new principal Mr. Seah Soo Chye. Hopefully with your guidance and leadership the school will climb greater heights in term of academic performance of the students and also their discipline.

The school was invited by KDU College together with many other schools both from the island and mainland to witness the launching of the Y Robotics by the Chief Minister of Penang at the KDU auditorium.

This morning was a red letter day for Mr. Gan Hua Beng as a special assembly was held as a tribute to him for his sacrifice and dedication to the school. He also gave many beneficial advice to the teachers and also the students.

Many performances were carried out namely Lion Dance, St John Appreciation March, Resos Singing and also a presentation by the school's board of prefects. Prior to this event a minute of silence was held as a mark of rememberance to Foo Juinn Haur who passed away peacefully.During the minute of silence, friends of Foo Juinn Haur sang a very touching song.

Mr. Gan was inundated with a deluge of gifts, cards, banners and hampers. All in all it was a grand occasion to mark the transfer of our beloved principal.

To Mr. Gan, we wish you all the very best and may you be well and happy always. All the best in your future undertakings.

Discipline teachers and admin were given a letter of authorisation each by the school principal so that they can carry out their duties without fear or favour.

The school principal Mr. Gan briefed the teachers for the last time with some parting words after the power point presentation by the Prefects' Board. He advised the teachers to do their level best to bring the school to greater heights.

The Prefects's Board of the school gave the school principal a fitting tribute in the form of a power point presentation of photos put together from 2007 to the present moment.

Behold the awakened lions of the school. This morning the eyes dotting ceremony was held at the Goddess of Mercy Temple at Jalan Kapitan Keling. A master or sifu was present to help out in the meaningful and auspicious ceremony.

This morning saw students of the school lining up in an orderly manner waiting patiently for their turn to register for their activities for the year. It took a record time of just half an hour for 500 plus students to register. This is due to the fantastic co-operation of everyone both the teachers and students.

This afternoon three engineers from National Instruments viz Mr. Thong, Mr. Ho and Mr. Chow visited the school and did a promotion on the Y Robotics where Lego parts are computerised to make robots that respond to sound, sight, colours and movements.

The school wishes to extend its welcome to Mr. Gunaselan, an experienced teacher especially in the field of sports to the school.

The teacher-advisor of the Civil Defence Cadet put up booth displaying the items and gadgets used during their meet. Many students patronised the booth getting a first hand look of what will be in store for them.

The Girl Guides of the school did a promotion this morning to further promote their activities especially to new students of the school. This morning the Boys' Brigade did another round of promotion to motivate students to join the uniform body. Drums and other musical instruments were play to attract students to their promotion booth. Hopefully more students will play to its tune and join this year. Photos showing the event.

The school's Amateur Radio Club did a promotion this morning at the reading corner. Many students were attracted by the gadgets used. A few amateur radio enthusiasts also came to help out. Sherlyn Seo a fifth former was voted Miss Popularity at the recently concluded Miss and Mrs. Cheongsam Contest in Gurney Plaza, Penang.

Members of the Music Club played some music at the reading corner as a way to captivate students to join the club. This year the school Music Club will be having an inaugural concert at Dewan Sri Pulau Pinang on the 13th May 2011 at 7.30pm.

The school's Fire Brigade Cadet had a promotion at the school's reading corner this morning. Their teachers-advisor were on hand to shore support and encourage more students to join this year.

This morning a group of senior members of the Boys' Brigade who were former Boys' Brigade members of Chung Hwa Confucian came to motivate the students to join the uniform body.

This morning saw a group by administrators led by the principal came a calling at the school. They were here to preview the school's admin system and also to learn about the school's ICP or Integrated Computer Programme system.

Students of the school were given a briefing and also to remind them of the school discipline system so that they will abide by it and focus more on their education. New students of the school especially those in Remove and Form 1 were given a briefing on the school rules and regulations by the Students Affair Senior Assistant during the school assembly. This is to ensure that students understand the rules and regulations and hopefully no one will run foul of these rules.
