2009 PENANG HILL CLIMB

Once again Kwong Wah Yit Poh is organising the annual Penang Hill Climb to celebrate Agong's birthday.
Date : 5.7.2009 (Sunday)
Starting Point : Taman Perbandaran Penang.
Ending Point : Hindu Temple, Penang Hill
Time : 8.00 am
Entry form : All forms must be sent to

Entry Fee : i) Student with school cop RM3.00 only
ii) Public RM6.00 only
All runner will be given a T-shirt

Girl Guide 7km Walk About
The Girl Guide of the school organised a 7km walk about on 21 April 2009. The main aim was to create awareness among the guides as regard to the environment and flora and fauna around them.
During the walk some of the girl guides were surprised to find a goat's pen nearby a residential area. The girls were also required to collect specimens of flora and fauna they encountered along the way.
It was a new and enriching learning experience for the girl guides. They are looking forward to more walkabout in the near future.
Girl Guides' Workshop

A group of Girl Guides underwent a workshop at Wisma Pandu Puteri, Penang on the 28th April under the capable guidance of Miss Chew and Pn. Aida.
The objective of the workshop was to expose the guides to the proper way of setting up a tent. After that they had to demonstrate in school to the other members who were not present.
Athlete's Success

The school's potential and promising athlete, Goh Kah Hong of Form 2 Cekal won 3rd placing in the boys' class 2 1500 metres and finished runner up in the boys' class 2 800 metres at the recent MSSPP at the Batu Kawan stadium.
Congrats and keep collecting more medals.
In-Service Training For Teachers-2nd Session

Teachers of the school once again completed the second session of the training successfully acquiring value-added skills in shot putt, passing of batons and also some useful warm up activities.
The facilitators on that day were Mr. Tan, Mr. Lee and En. Ruzi. Despite the scorching heat, the teachers took part in all the activities planned much to the delight of the trainers.
Bravo and may you all sportingly look forward to more training sessions coming soon.
PERKHEMAHAN PASUKAN BERUNIFORM-PERINGKAT KEBANGSAAN

Three scouts from the school participated in this camp organised by "Bahagian Sukan, Seni dan Ko-kurikulum" Kementerian Pelajaran Malaysia at Kuala Nerang, Kedah from 13th to 19 April 2009.
They learnt many useful skills such as jungle survival, cooking and jungle trekking. Other than that they were taken on a tour around the area.
They also made new friends from other schools. They had lots of fun exchanging ideas and getting to know each other.
Additional Sport 2009

The just concluded Additonal Sport brought cheer to the Blue House as it amassed the most points to emerge as the leading house for the moment much to the delight and also the surprise of its teachers-in-charge.
More points can be collected during the annual sport meet at USM on the 29th April 2009. Events at USM will mostly be running events. For houses still lagging behind, this is the time to gather more points to be on par with Blue House or even emerge as the champion house.
So, best of luck to all the houses and may the best house wins.
Successful Completion of Standard Sport

The school has successfully completed its Standard Sport over a time frame of two days. Yellow House triumphed over the other houses. Hopefully the other houses will give Yellow House a tough fight during the annual sport at USM.
Most of the students tried their best to score points for their houses. Bravo and keep your spirit soaring!
In-service Training For Teachers
Teachers underwent an in-service training on basic skills related to Physical Education. Braving the hot sun all the teachers including the principal sportingly follow the pace set by facilitators.
The skills the teachers picked up were basketball, football and "sepak raga." Despite the heat all the teachers learnt a lot and are eager to use them in their future PE lessons.
Outstanding Ahievement in Taekwon-Do
Khoo Boo Keat of 4 Cekal did the school proud by winning a Gold Bronze Medal (1st) in the Free Sparring Individual Boys (16-17 years) Colour Belt Pattern at the recently concluded 22nd Traditional Taekwon-Do Academy Championship (Open) 2009-(National Level) in Summit Subang USJ, Subang Jaya.
Congratulation to Khoo Boo Keat and hope you will continue to achieve greater success. For other students out there, this is something good to emulate.
PTA AGM 2009 (MESYUARAT AGUNG PIBG 09)
The school held it's 38th PTA annual general meeting on 27th March 2009 in the school canteen.
The turn out was satisfactory and a new team of committee members was sworn in to take up the challenge of steering the school to greater heights.
All's well went well. The meeting ended with a scrumptious high tea.
Fun, Frolic and Learning
That was the headline screaming away on 16 March 2009 Star Metro. More than 300 students in the scouting district of Bayan Lepas, Penang, gathered at SMK Hamid Khan recently for activities organised in conjunction with World Scout Day.
The students were separated into groups for some fun with Kim's Games (memory and observation games named after the hero of Rudyard Kipling's novel Kim)
The games involved the five senses of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. See attached picture of our student Mah Kah Shen of 3 Cekal taking part in the game.
Garbage Enzyme?

The members of the Health Club or "Kelab Kesihatan" are learning how to make garbage enzyme untuk the capable guidance of their teachers-advisor Madame Choo and Amy Loh. The uses of the garbage enzyme are multiple. It can be used both in the kitchen, house and also for cleaning purposes.
The garbage enzyme is not to be consumed but an edible version which is known as fruit enzyme is a rich source of food supplement. Hopefully the members will learn to make the fruit enzyme soon with the help of their resourceful teachers.
Lastly, health is wealth. So folks take good care of your health without compromising on the environment. Best of luck in your endeavors.
Standard Sport/Sukan Tara

Next week on the 8th and 9th of April 09, the school is having Standard Sport or "Sukan Tara" On the 8th morning students from Remove, Form 1 and 2 will take to the field to collect as many points as possible for their respective houses. This will give a headstart to the house to attain first placing during the annual sport day.
On the 9th will be for students in Form 3,4 and 5. Ater that will be the "Sukan Tambahan" where the various houses will send their best athletes to go for the records.
So, all the best and try to break some records. Have a great sporting day. May the force be with you!
