It is the time of the year when prefects of the school gather at a nice place to celebrate what is called "Jasamu Dikenang." It is a celebration of gratitude to teachers, senior prefects and also the school for having guided them, cherihed them and also moulded them into students with good behaviour, sense of belonging, and leadership skills. It is also like thanksgiving to all who had helped them to grow into a special way. The school admin and discipline teachers together with the PTA chairman and counsellors as usual graced the occasion this evening at Flamingo Hotel. This it the 8th time so far that such an auspicious and meaningful occasion is being held at a hotel. Hopefully this fruitful occasion will continue with the support by the school and PTA. It was a great and fun evening. There were singing, birthday celebration, lucky draw and motivational session by the beach. Thanks to all who made it a success.

BREAKING OF FAST IN SCHOOL 2010

The Islamic Studies Panel of the school organised a breaking of fast in the school canteen this evening. All the teachers and staff were invited. A number of non-muslim teachers attended and this is in line with the 1 Malaysia concept prescribed by our Prime Minister. In addition, it also fosters goodwill and fellowship among the teachers and staff in the school.
It was an evening well spent. Thank you to the panel and fellow committee members for taking effort and time to prepare the programme. Keep it up!

VISIT BY OFFICERS FROM JPN 2010
Officers from the State Education Department of Penang paid a visit to the school this morning. They were briefed by the school principal on matters pertaining to administration and management of the school including the various programmes for the students.

This morning saw a parade comprising school principals as representative for the State Education Department. The Merdeka parade was held at Fort Cornwallis and there were many contingents representing various government and non-government organizations.
This year the Senior Assistant for Co-curriculum represented the school principal in the march past as flag bearer.

The event started with an assembly where the students sang the patriotic songs with fervour with some waving the 'jalur gemilang' patriotically. After that there were speeches and giving of prizes and certificates for winners of the quiz, patriotic songs competition and best decorated classroom by the principal Mr. Gan
It was a great day where all the teachers and students sang together harmoniously in the spirit of 1 Malaysia. "Merdeka!, Merdeka!, Merdeka!"

The school's mentor Tuan Haji Jamaluddin, the principal of Bukit Mertajam High School visited the school this morning to mentor and share his knowledge on the SIP partnership programme aim at improving the performance of the school in all areas.
