KOLEJ T6 HAJI ZAINUL ABIDIN

On a bright Saturday morning of 15 August 2009, the school had its annual cross-country. Majority of the students turned up to lend support for this annual event. The school principal flagged off the students at 8.00am.

This year the students ran clockwise around the school's neighbourhood. It was a great run and everyone enjoyed it. It was also a blessing that everything turned out smoothly thanks to the cooperation of all the teachers, staff and students.

The school would also like to say "terima kasih" to the policemen who turned up to control the traffic and also made sure no untowards incident happened.

After the run, there was a lucky draw for the students. The luckiest student won a bicycle as the grand prize. Congrats!Everyone went home a winner for having taken part in this annual run.

Prefects of the school gathered at the Sandy Paradise Hotel in Penang together with teachers for a night of fun, great food and fellowship. They had earlier of the evening involved in a workshop facilitated by the school's counsellor Miss Low.

The Prefects' Recognition Night aptly dubbed as "Malam Jasamu DiKenang" in Malay saw prefects having a great time together with the school administrators and teachers. Most of them took the opportunity to sing a song and also perform. It was a night where everyone let down their hair and mingled with the prefects.

The prefect also celebrated Mr. Gan birthday with a cake. He also sportingly sang a song by Stevie Wonder.

All in all it was a night to remember for those who attended and everyone went home with a lucky draw prize with the grandest being a bicycle.

A group of enthusiastic students from the school took part in this campaign organised by the Consumers' Association of Penang on 16th August 2009 at 8.00am in front of Tuanku Syed Putra building at Downing Street. They were accompanied by the Senior Assistant of Extra-curricular activity. About 2,000 participants turned up for the event.

The main aim of the campaign was to instill a love for cycling among the people of Penang so as to reduce carbon monoxide emission thus making Penang a healthy place to live in. Moreover it is also to inculcate healthy lifestyle among Penangites and also to reduce traffic congestion on the roads and streets.

The event ended at about 10.30am and each participant was given a goodie comprising bread, mineral water and a certificate of participation.

All in all, it was a morning spent fruitfully and healthily.

The school will be celebrating the 52nd Independence day school level on the 17th August 2009. Hopefully it will be a sunny day. Students had been ardently decorating their classes for the past one week.

Some students also formed groups to sing patriotic song during the assembly. One student also sang solo the patriotic song "Perajurit Tanah Air."

The theme for this year's Indenpendence Day celebration will be "1Malaysia, Rakyat didahulukan ,pencapaian diutama." which simply means One Malaysia priority to the citizens and also placing importance to performance.

The logo for comprises the number one placed on the Mlaysia flag. It symbolises the country's vision which is to create a united and patriotic society based on the country's consitution and also Rukun Negara. It also reflects on the people of Malaysia who are united, harmonious,self-reliant and share the vision of One Malaysia.

All the students were requested to bring a flag each on Monday 17th August 2009.

On the 5th of August 2009, a group of students participated in this Road Safety Programme organised bty the MOE under the Rakan Muda Programme at Kompleks Belia in Batu Uban Penang. A total of 10 schools took part in the morning session.

Students were given a briefing on defensive driving skills and also tips om Road Safety. After that students were also given the opportunity to try out biking skills such as the correct way to execute emergency braking, looking at the safety aspects of their bikes and many other useful tips.

The students went home richer in knowledge especially road safety and hopefully there will be less mishaps on the road. Well-done!

The school counselling teacher gave an informative session on counselling using her expertise to guide students to the right path. In her years as a counsellor she has encountered students from different background and different problems.

Teachers paid rapt attention while attending this session as there were many useful tips they could pick up to deal with students having myriad problems.

All in all, everyone went home happy as they had picked up a tip or two.

The school held the 45th Prize Giving Day on the 24th July 2009 on a bright sunny afternoon. The event started exactly at 3.00pm in the school canteen. The prize winners were attired smartly and so were the teachers and parents who graced the occasion.

The students from the various clubs and uniform bodies put up a great performance much to the delight of those present. There was a lion dance, Indian classical stick dance, Malay cultural dance, singing and other performances.

All in all, it was a great day for the school.

Prefects also took part in a workshop jointly organised with the Peer Group Club at ATI recently. They learnt through various team building games. It was a day of fun and knowledge enrichment.

Perhaps they took to the saying of "THE MORE YOU LEARN YOU MORE YOU EARN"

Prefects of the school took part actively during the recent. Some were involved in the inspection of the guard-or-honour while many were in the choir leading the singing of the national and state anthem.

The prefects did the work assigned to them well. Kudos to all the prefects involved and also the teachers advisor.

"Breakthrough win" That was the headline screaming across the sport section of The Star dated 27 July 2009. It was followed by a sub highline "Peng-Soon Khim Wah snatch maiden Open Title in the Thailand Open.

Chan Peng Soon who is currently 21 years young was a former student of the school. He left school and joined the Bukit Jalil Sport School. Today he is breaking new ground and soon he will be a force to reckon.

The school prefects took part in the march past during the recent sports day at USM. They looked elegant and smart in their full uniform.

They were given a round of applause at the grand stand.

On the morning of 25th July 2009,members of the Prefectorial Board and Peer Guidance Club made a maiden visit to ATI Centre or Tourism Training Centre in Macalister Road, Penang.

At the centre, the members were given hands on training on Team building from 8.30am to 1.30pm. Various team building games were also introduced. The sesssion ended with a scrumptious lunch hosted by ATI.

A big thank you to ATI for the support and also to the teachers advisor namely Madam Tay HL and Miss Low Li Im for the effort.
