TO ALL BUDDHIST TEACHERS, STAFF AND STUDENTS,
HAPPY VESAK DAY

This morning saw a group of students from USM to promote the 'Plastic Free Zone' Educational Awareness Campaign. They are from the ECOTEAM or Secretariat of Sustainability.

It is a movement to eliminate all plastic bags, polystyrene, and plastic containers. They left with a banner for the school made from recycled material.

This morning saw the upper secondary students comprising Form 3 , 4 and 5 students going to the field to gather  points for their respective houses. The weather was good and the students were raring to go after a warm session. St John ambulance members were also on hand to help with minor injuries.

This morning saw a heavy downpour early in the morning. Standard Sport 2 will be postponed to : 2 MAY 2013 (THURSDAY)

This morning saw lower secondary students comprising Remove Form 1 and 2 students successful carrying out the standard sport. The weather was cool and ideal. Tomorrow will be the upper secondary students' turn to do the standard sport.

This afternoon saw the Girl Guides of the school having floral arrangement as one of their activties. A floral expert was roped in the facilitate. It was held in the school canteen.

This morning saw nurses from the district hospital visiting the school and giving Form 3 students anti-tetanus jab. Form 5 students were also given health check by the nurses at the sick bay of the school.

Yesterday saw the school principal Mr Seah SC presenting certificates of participation to students who took part in the "Forum Remaja" or Teenage Forum. It was undertaken by Encik Abdullah who accompanied the students.

This morning saw the school successfully carried out its 12th cross-country race among the various sport houses. The weather was kind and there was no untowards incident and injuries. The PTA chairman and some of the committee members also turned up to support the event.

Last Wednesday saw Mr Lee the sport secretary of the school giving an inhouse training to all the teachers as regard to the management and organization of the cross-country race. It was held at the school's meeting room.

Last Wednesday saw the members of the 'Kelab Memasak' or Cooking Club making 'Char Koay Teow' under the guidance the their teachers-adviser Cik Noratika and Encik Aliff. Many students turned up to learn and to show their 'masterpiece'

Last week saw a facilatator from Kuala Lumpur coming to the school under the invitation of the Counselling Unit to give a motivational talk to Form 3 and Form 5 students. The topic was how students can score an A for Bahasa Malaysia in PMR and SPM examinations.

This morning saw Encik Asmadi from the Penang Sport Council or MSN coming to the school to give a brief talk on Weight Lifting to Form 2 and Form 3 students. Some potential students were selected after a short trial.

Today's StarMetro features the story of student Ernest Teoh under the headline "Not afraid to have fun" on Events page 3 of The Star newspaper. It was about the charity "Ride for Sight Charity Bike-a-thon at Straits Quay.

This morning saw a temporary teacher reporting to school to start her duty to fill in for Pn Rosnah. Her name is Cik Siti Fatimah from Penang. Welcome and hopefully you will do a good job.

This morning saw the school principal presenting letter of appointment to all the librarian in the school. Thereafter the librarian took an oath of office in front of all the students and teachers.

This morning saw the school principal giving away bronze medals to the school under 15 footballers who got 3rd placing in the Kelawai Zone football meet recently. Congrats and the school is proud of your achievement.

This morning saw a dentist from a government clinic visiting the school and giving a talk to students about dental care and healthy gums. The talk was held at the multimedia room. Students of various classes took turns to attend the talk.

Yesterday morning saw Encik Haszrul reporting to the school to carry out his duty as a teacher replacing Encik Norrizan Wahit who went on a transfer to PPD Timur Laut.

This morning saw a lady teacher reporting for duty. She is Cikgu Noradliyah  from Penang Island. She is replacing Ustazah Nurul Haswani who is going on transfer.

To Cikgu Noradliyah, the school wishes you "Selamat Datang" and hopefully you would work diligently for the benefits of the students. Once again welcome!

This morning saw the school principal presenting the bronze medal to Chong Chee Hwa of 3 Bakti for second runner-up in the recent tournament in the single's category. Certificates of participation were also presented to those players who took part in the tournament.

This afternoon saw a convoy of teachers and ex-students attending Cikgu Norsuhaila or fondly known as Kak Su's wedding luncheon at Kuala Kurau about 1 hour 15 minutes drive from the school. It was an auspicious occasion and the trip was worthwhile given the challenging terrain. The school wishes to congratulate Cikgu Norsuhaila on her wedding and may she have a happy marriage. LAU MEI PHING - 6 A

This morning saw a stream of 2012 students coming to the school to collect their examination result slip. Students made a beeline to the meeting room where teachers on duty gave out the slip. To all the students who did well, congrats. For those not so lucky, success is still yours if you continue to work hard in other areas of your lives.

Three teachers will be going on tranfer. They are Pn., Watriah, Pn Rosnah and En. Norrizan. The school wishes them the best of luck in their new school and may they continue to serve diligently.

This morning saw the teachers and staff of the school being treated to a simple meal by teachers who will be going on transfer at the school's pantry. To the teachers on transfer, the school wishes you all the very best and may you continue to serve diligently.

Yesterday saw the meeting between the PTA of the school and the Road Safety Council of Penang to discuss matters pertaining the traffic and students' safety around the school and also outside the school gate. The has been an increased in the volume of traffic outside the school gate and also the indisciminate parking of cars in front of the school causing massive jam daily.

Yesterday saw 4 students attending The Star Tale Spin 2013 workshop at SMJK Heng Ee. The talk was organised by The Star Publication in collaboration with Taylor's College. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Lucille Dass. It was an enriching workshop and students would be doing the storyboard to earn pizza vouchers.

Yesterday saw 5 schools battling out for the coveted first placing in the annual Pesta Pantun ( Poetry Recital)  at the school. The champion team was from SM Al-Mashoor (L) while the first runner up was SMK Air Itam and second runner-up was SMK T Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra. Congrats to the winners.

This morning saw a panel of ten judges coming to the school to judge the participants of the Pesta Pantun. Later 4 schools in Kelompok M1 also turned up at the school to register themselves for the competition. The schools that came were SMK Air Itam, Tanjong Bungah, Tunku Abdul Rahman and Al-Mashoor (L).

This morning saw the presentation of plaque to the best three classes in term of cleanliness and neatness. Congratulations to 1 Bakti,  5 Cekal and 5 Aman for winning this month. As for 5 Bakti the class needs to put in more effort to keep the class tidy and clean.

Yesterday saw the school's netball team in action at the PKSW ( Pusat Kecemerlangan Sukan Westlands) field. Despite the fact that the players played diligently but it was not sufficient to overcome the opposing teams in term of speed, skill and agility.

Yesterday afternoon saw Mr Murukasan giving the teachers a briefing on the topic HOTS. Literally, HOTS is an acronym for Higher Order Thinking Skills. Teachers were told some questions in exam will be based on HOTS whereby students need to put n their thinking cap to answer.
