This morning saw the teacher-in-charge of SPM registration Pn. Tay giving all the Form 5 students of the school a short briefing regarding the registration exercise for the impending SPM examination. Students were informed on the procedure and the documents required. I tis also the responsibility of the students to make sure they get prepared and registered for the examination at the end of the year.

Once again, on a cloudy Tuesday morning, the teacher-advisor of Koperasi SMKHZA Bhd did a promotion of new products during the morning assembly with fellow committee members. Prices quoted were very reasonable and competitive.

Students are encouraged to drop by the Co-op Store during recess to purchase the things they need for their folio and projects. Customised products can also be purchase or order.

Last week saw the Girl Guides of the school having an interesting activity. It was how to make a fire. Some ex-seniors also came back to help. This activity can help the girl guides to make fire easily without damaging the soil and on any surfaces.

This morning again saw Mr S. Subramaniam from PTPL College visiting the school and also gave a talk on learning strategies and mind-mapping. The talk gave an insight on the intricacies of learning and also sharing with the students the art of mind-mapping. It was a very beneficial talk especially to the Form 5A and 5B students who were selected for the 1 hour and 30 minutes talk.

The talk ended with the students given a topic to create a mind-map. All in all, it was time well spent as the skills will be the students forever and may come in handy. Photos showing the event.

This afternoon saw the Senior Assistant for Students' Affair giving a comprehensive inhouse training entitled 3K which encompassed the elements of cleanliness, health and safety. Teachers were exposed to measures and strategies of making the school a safety, clean and health place for conducive learning.

This morning saw two new trainee teachers of UNIRAZAK reporting for their practical teaching in the school. They were both trained at The Sentral College Penang and had chosen the school for their stint of about 4 months.

This morning saw the perfects of the school's prefectorial board marching in unison to receive the letter of appointment from the school principal during the official assembly. Later they also took to the front of the assembly area to take the oath before all the teachers and students pledging to do their utmost best to help the school monitor the discipline among the students and also carry out duties given by the school.

The SMKHZA Koperasi Berhad did a promotion on the multitude of products going at a special price this morning by one of the teachers-advisor. Buncho water colours going cheap and students were encouraged to get it from the co-op store in school.

Trail blazer Mohd Saad did the school proud by clinching second placing with a silver medal during the recent MSSPP cross-country championship in Butterworth, Penang. The school wishes to congratulate him on his fine performance and hopes that he will be a champ one day.

The school table tennis or pingpong team took part in the recent MSSPP competition at the Penang Chinese Girls' High School Penang and got 3rd placing in all the events participated namely Boys' Under 15 Team, Boys' Under 15 Double and Boys' Under 18 Single.

Yesterday afternoon saw the PTA committee members comprising both parents and teachers met in the meeting room to discuss the agenda and preparation for the upcoming 41st PTA AGM to be held in the school canteen on Saturday, 25th February 2012 at 9.00am. To encourage more parents to attend door gifts will be given.

This morning, Mr Subramanium, a lecturer from PTPL college dropped by the school on the invitation of the counselling unit to delivery a talk on the importance of pursuing accounts subject by the students upon completing SPM. Two Form 5 classes doing accounts were ushered into the multimedia room to listen to the talk.

This afternoon saw another in-house training conducted by the Senior Assistant for Administration regarding the issue of law and education. It was quite an eye-opener as there are many rules and regulation the school and teachers need to know as an extra knowledge for smooth running of the school. Moreover it was to safeguard the welfare of the school and teachers.

This morning the teachers and staff of the school were feted with a simple buffet lunch. It was in conjunction with the Chinese New Year. It had been the practice of the staff to have a gathering after each festival. It is a portrayal of the spirit of 1 Malaysia.

TO ALL THOSE WHO CELEBRATE OR OBSERVE VALENTINE'S DAY

This morning a team of nurses from the Health Department of Penang came to the school and gave a brief talk to all Form 1 girl students. After that the Form 1 girls were given the HPV innoculation at the school's treatment room or sick bay. This innoculation is for the prevention of cervix cancer among teenage girls and women. As the saying goes, "prevention is better than cure."

This morning saw the prefect master drilling the prefects to prepare them for the big day which is none other than the prefects' installation which is around the corner. It is an annual event and the prefects went through the pace diligently.

Mr Adris Youp of Noble School of Engineering, Taiping, Perak visited the school to give a talk on Career Path to Form 4 students of the school at the multimedia room. This college is under the Department of Skills, Ministry of Human Resource and it offers courses of various discipline such as F&B, Make-Up, Automotive, Electric, Electronic and other courses. Two sales executives from The Star newspaper Mr. Soon and Kelvin,came to school to promote The Star NIE package for the students and staff of the school. Yesterday saw the registration of co-curricular activities by students after a few days of promotion by clubs and various uniform bodies. The boys' brigade of the school did a road show to promote and highlight its activities for new students to attract them to join. Senior members put up a camping exhibits near the canteen last Thursday and was opened for the students to view on Friday. Last Friday saw members of the St John Ambulance Corps of the school having a membership drive with a mini exhibition of its activities at the reading corner of the school. The teacher advisor was seen using a hailer to encourage new students to sign up for new membership. Many students were seen milling around the exhibits to have a better look at the items on display. This year saw the school embarking on a programme to create uniformity among the students in term of attire. For P.E. students are required to wear black shorts or track bottom readily available at the school co-op. This will set a standard in the PE dress code. Students were also reminded not to play at the park in Taman Hutchings and also to refrain from committing any offence in school to the detriment of their welfare in school and also their future.
