This morning, Mr Subramanium, a lecturer from PTPL college dropped by the school on the invitation of the counselling unit to delivery a talk on the importance of pursuing accounts subject by the students upon completing SPM. Two Form 5 classes doing accounts were ushered into the multimedia room to listen to the talk.

FOLLOW THURSDAY TIME-TABLE

This afternoon saw another in-house training conducted by the Senior Assistant for Administration regarding the issue of law and education. It was quite an eye-opener as there are many rules and regulation the school and teachers need to know as an extra knowledge for smooth running of the school. Moreover it was to safeguard the welfare of the school and teachers.

This morning the teachers and staff of the school were feted with a simple buffet lunch. It was in conjunction with the Chinese New Year. It had been the practice of the staff to have a gathering after each festival. It is a portrayal of the spirit of 1 Malaysia.

TO ALL THOSE WHO CELEBRATE OR OBSERVE VALENTINE'S DAY

This morning a team of nurses from the Health Department of Penang came to the school and gave a brief talk to all Form 1 girl students. After that the Form 1 girls were given the HPV innoculation at the school's treatment room or sick bay. This innoculation is for the prevention of cervix cancer among teenage girls and women. As the saying goes, "prevention is better than cure."

The school wishes to warmly welcome four trainee teachers from USM, Penang. They will be in school until May, 2012 for their practical teaching under experienced mentors of the school. Hopefully they will do their best and the school wishes you all the very best of luck.

This morning saw the prefect master drilling the prefects to prepare them for the big day which is none other than the prefects' installation which is around the corner. It is an annual event and the prefects went through the pace diligently.

This morning saw a short briefing to all Form 1 students to prepare them for the coming Oral Bahasa Malaysia and English assessment. Students listened attentively on the rules and regulations of the oral test.

Madam Tan gave the teachers of the school a comprehensive talk on The Reading Programme commonly known as "Program Nilam" . It was to equip the teachers with the necessary information and at the same time for senior teachers it was like a "refresher course."

Mr Adris Youp of Noble School of Engineering, Taiping, Perak visited the school to give a talk on Career Path to Form 4 students of the school at the multimedia room. This college is under the Department of Skills, Ministry of Human Resource and it offers courses of various discipline such as F&B, Make-Up, Automotive, Electric, Electronic and other courses. This morning saw an insurance advisor for AIA , Ms Anny dropping by the school during the morning assembly to give a 5-minute talk on the importance of investing in an insurance policy especially for personal accident coverage.

Two sales executives from The Star newspaper Mr. Soon and Kelvin,came to school to promote The Star NIE package for the students and staff of the school. Newspaper were also sold at special promotional prices with freebies thrown in. Many students went to check out the special promotion packages. Yesterday saw the registration of co-curricular activities by students after a few days of promotion by clubs and various uniform bodies. The school is delighted to have a new and experienced staff who reported on Monday. She is none other than an experienced physics teacher; Miss Thong. This morning saw the Civil Defence cadets having a promotion to attract new members at the reading corner of the school. On display were tools and apparatus used for camping and training purposes. The teacher was also on hand to shore support for the cadets. Photos showing the promotion.

The boys' brigade of the school did a road show to promote and highlight its activities for new students to attract them to join. Senior members put up a camping exhibits near the canteen last Thursday and was opened for the students to view on Friday. Last Friday saw members of the St John Ambulance Corps of the school having a membership drive with a mini exhibition of its activities at the reading corner of the school. The teacher advisor was seen using a hailer to encourage new students to sign up for new membership. Many students were seen milling around the exhibits to have a better look at the items on display. This year saw the school embarking on a programme to create uniformity among the students in term of attire. For P.E. students are required to wear black shorts or track bottom readily available at the school co-op. This will set a standard in the PE dress code. This morning saw the school principal and the senior discipline teacher giving all the students a pep talk on the school regulations and merit-demerit system. Students were also reminded not to play at the park in Taman Hutchings and also to refrain from committing any offence in school to the detriment of their welfare in school and also their future. The school was also provided with the services of 4 temporary teachers whose services will expire on the 16th of February 2012. They are En. Muzammil, Cik Aimi, Cik Nurul H. and Puan Yusmi.

This morning saw a steady stream of both parents and students making a beeline to the canteen to participate in the school orientation programme for new students. The programme started with a recitation of prayer by ustaz and then followed by speeches and sharing of information by the school principal and all the senior assistants. Many students turned in their smartly ironed uniforms and they were later taken by their respective form teachers on a tour round the school premises. The programme ended at 12 noon. This morning saw a good turn out of teachers for the staff meeting cum SBPA briefing by the school principal. Teachers involved in marking SPM papers were visibly absent and the principal took the opportunity to brief those present on the nitty-gritty of the new pay scheme known as SBPA or New Civil Service Scheme.

During the intermission the teachers and staff were treated to a scrumptuous spread of rice and "cucur kuchai". Then the teachers signed and returned the various forms given out namely the SBPA acceptance forms and new retirement extention forms. All in all it was a fruitful morning and the meeting cum briefing ended at about 1.10 pm.

The school co-op has put up a nice signboard on top of the main door preparing to open door to customers on 4th January 2012 and also awaiting the soft launch by the school. Many products will be on display and also appropriate things and items will be put up for sale for the benefits and comfort of the students.

The school looks set to usher in the New Year with a bang: "Enter the Dragon." Two new signboards both carrying apt and relevant vision and mission statements were put up a couple of days ago with the noble intention of motivating the teachers and staff to go the extra mile to help the school and students to achieve them.

This morning saw a school worker arduously painting the basketball and badminton courts with a fresh coat of painting getting ready for the students to use when school reopens on the 4th January 2012. This morning saw many parents with their children in tow making a beeline to the school to have their children registered. It was a cool morning and the sun was not in its hottest. Parents who forgot to photostat documents were also seen heading to the office to seek help.

Some students of the school were seen on hand to help in the registration exercise with some as traffic wardens, usherer and some as registration clerks. They volunteered to serve the school and this is a good model for other students to emulate. All in all it was a nice experience especially for new students who will be embarking on thier study journey in this school, hopefully for 5 years or so. Some renovation work was also carried out during the school holidays to provide a conducive environment for the students and teachers. A lot of old furniture were also discarded kept in secluded rooms from yesterdays were also discarded after approval from JPN or State Education Department.

The school has embarked on a quiet campaign during the current school holidays to put up my sign boards for the benefit of those who visit the school either for business transaction or on educational matters. Curbs, pathway and courts were given a fresh coat of paint by the workers and the whole place simple looked spin and span. Thanks to the co-operation of all the workers, the school indeed is ready to usher in new students for the 2012 session.

Koperasi SHZA Berhad is in the midst of moving to a new premise just beside the Sport Store. Hopefully with the new premise the new environment will garner more business and turn it around. Members of the school co-op together with their ever obliging teachers-advisor took time off their holiday to help managed the shift of books and other stationeries.

This morning saw a hive of activities in the school. The school was getting ready to usher in parents and especially students who will come in droves tomorrow to register for the 2012 session. Both the remove and Form One students will register or appeal to a school of their choice.
