EX-STUDENT TO SING AT CONCERT

Ex-student Mahathir Mehat, who was formerly a prefect of the school and now working cum studying in Kuala Lumpur will sing a song during the up and coming concert on May 13, 7.30pm at Dewan Sri Pinang. So, for those who know his and wish to hear him sing get your tickets now as there are limited seats left.
He purposely takes time off to be with his alumni. The school wishes to thank him for the effort and love he has for his alma mater.

HAPPY MOMENTS 2011

May 2nd 2011 was a happy moment for the school hip hop group Unknownz. As from an unknown group, they are now becoming more well-known. Currently they are putting up in Shah Alam for the big day on 8th May where they will be levelling out with other teams across the country for the top three position.
The group was again featured in StarMetro Friday 6 May 2011 under the column "Happy Moments" on page 16.

NATIONAL SHOWDOWN 2011

The headlines "All set for national showdown" screamed across page 9 of the 5th May StarMetro showing our home grown hip hop dance group simply known as Unknownz. They will be competing for the national level at Berjaya Times Square at 2 pm on this Sunday, 8th May 2011.
Let's pray and hope that they do not come back empty handed. But having seen them danced into the hearts of the jury at Bukit Jambul Shopping Complex one cannot help having abundant of confidence in them.
So, Unknownz all the best and we are waiting anxiously for the good news. best of luck.

Unknownz, the school hip-hop group is set to rock Berjaya Times Square this coming Sunday that is 8th May 2011 at 2pm.

Cadets of the Fire Brigade managed second placing during the marching contest among uniform bodies at SMK Air Itam yesterday. The result was released this morning.

This morning saw an experience Science teacher retiring after a good 17 years of service at the school. He was none other than Mr. Teh Poey Chuan who was formerly a great scout master of the school.

EVENT PLUS PROMOTING DIGI PRODUCTS 2011
Once again Event Plus Sdn Bhd promoted DIGI sim card during recess this morning. Many students bought the sim card as it was sold at a very special price. LION DANCE PRACTICE 2011

This afternoon saw members of the Lion Dance Troupe of the school practising hard for the concert and also MBS 120th Anniversary on May 28th. Despite the hot afternoon heat, they continued to persevere. Photos showing the members having fun practising.

The patch of organic farm had taken roots with ladies' fingers, water cress and chillies growing abundantly. Behind the patch was planted papaya trees waiting for harvesting. Photos showing members of the Consumer Club tending to the plants.
FIRE BRIGADE CADETS HARD AT WORK 2011

Members of the Fire Brigade Cadets stood steadfast under the scorching sun to master the steps and in unison. Under the command of Ahmad Fareed they diligently went through their marching routine making sure everyone toed the line. They had been practising very hard for the coming competition. This afternoon, 5 team members of Consumer Club tried to outdo one another to whip up the most appetizing meal of the day complete with deco and food arrangement. JudgeS Pn. HAJI GOT TALENT 2011

Two team of dancers from the school namely Uknownz and Straizer took part in the DIGI MY SCHOOL GOT TALENT contest and this afternoon they went into the final at the Bukit Jambul Shopping Complex. A huge crowd converged to witness the event. Many students also turned up to lend support. Many cheered wildly when the school team took centre stage.
10 teams including two from the school vied for the two coveted places to represent Penang in the final to be held in Kuala Lumpur from 6th to 8th May 2011.
Teams were awarded medals like in sport. When the results were announced Unknown got gold medals together with SMK Georgetown, Teluk Kumbar,and another school. Straizer the second school team only managed to get the bronze medal. Try again next year and you can do better if not the best.
When the grand final results were announced our school and SMK Georgetown were selected to join in the grand final national level in Kuala Lumpur.
Congrats to Unknownz and Straizer. The school is proud of your achievement. All the best in KL.

Yesterday morning saw students where involved in the school concert rehearsed diligently at the school canteen. It was a dry run and the students took it in their stride.

Former principal of the school, Mr. Gan was featured in the The Star Metro dated 27 April 2011 in conjunction with the Methodhist Boys' School Heritage Centre. It was reported that MBS school will be celebrating its 120th anniversary on May 28th 2011.
HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 3 MY SCHOOL ROCKS 2011

Yesterday, Mr. Anson a rep from the Disney-Channel came to promote the HSM3 dance contest with the theme "My School Rocks." This year only two teams are allowed per school. The closing date is on 18th May 2011. Audition will take place at the Tunku Abdul Rahman College, Penang.

This morning saw the sunny sky smiling upon the school vicinity making it the best and ideal time to have the annual cross country programme. The attendance was good and the students gathered eagerly to start off.

This morning saw book agent Synergy holding a book exhibition at the school canteen. There were story books, revision books and other reading materials. Students browsed through the wide range of books and some even purchased books for their revision.
TEAM BUILDING TRIP TO BANDING ISLAND 2011

Last week saw a group of students comprising prefects, members of the counselling unit (PRS) together with members of other groups of the school went on a trip to Banding Island. They were accompanied by 5 teachers-advisor. They had a whale of as time not only enjoying the beautiful vista but only learnt about togetherness and team work.
IN-HOUSE TRAINING -AEROBIC 2011

This round the in-house training centred on physical fitness and also as a way of beating stress. Teachers were given general information on health and the nitty-gritty of fitness before going to the ground for some hand-ons technics of doing basic warming up and cooling down.

SELLING TICKETS AT CGL,PENANG 2011

Prefects together with a teacher visited Convent Greenlane to promote the school concert and also to sell the tickets to collect funds for the school's Music Club. Despite the hot weather, it did not dampen the spirit of these prefects who diligently approach every student during recess at the canteen.

RED-LETTER DAY FOR TRAINEES 2011

It was a red-letter day for the trainees for it marked the end of their training at the school. The school principal graciously presented momentos to the trainers who in return gave the teachers a small treat.

An event management team for DIGI- My School Got Talent or MSGT came with a local celebrity Azizi Zakaria to promote the programme. This programme aims to uncover fresh and new talents among teenagers in secondary school in Penang by encouraging talented students to join in a host of programmes such as singing, dancing and other performances.
The MSGT programme will kick off with an audition on April 23rd for those keen to participate. Photos showing local talent Azizi Zakaria promoting the event and motivating students to join.

Members of the Penang Youths.Com visited the school early this morning to promote a list of healthy and wholesome activities for the students to participate and partake. Some of the activities will be held at KDU College while the rest at Penang Times Square.

Program Amali Sembelihan diadakan untuk memberi pendedahan kepada para pelajar untuk menyembelih binatang yang ingin dimakan, dengan cara yang betul dan bertepatan dengan syarat-syarat yang telah digariskan oleh Islam. Pelajar juga didedahkan dengan cara memproses ayam dengan betul dan bersih supaya terhindar daripada penyakit. Ia merupakan anjuran Persatuan Agama Islam dengan kerjasama AJK persatuan. Terima kasih kepada pihak pentadbir, pengurus kantin smkhza, Ustazah Fazlina, Ustaz Shukri dan Cik Suhaila serta semua pelajar kerana menjayakan program ini.

Fire Brigade cadets had a bowling competition recently at the Bukit Jambul bowling alley recently. It was fun and the cadets had a whale of a time. This shows that it is not marching all the time but it is still fun to join the cadets and learn and enjoy at the same time.
MSSPP ATHLETICS 2011

Two athletics of the school took part in the shot putt and 400m hurdles events. They managed to get a bronze and silver medal each. This shows hard work pays. Congrats and hope that the rest of the athletics will also put in some hard work to haul more medals.
POCKET DYNAMITE

Mohd Saad may be small in stature but he packs a tonne of power under his small frame. He took part in the recent X-cross in Teluk Kumber and finished 8th ahead of hundreds behind him. This is a good achievement and he aspires to continue to improve and represent the state one day.
TAE-KWONDO TOURNAMENT 2011

Members of the Tae-kwondo Club made a clean sweep of some events when they did well in some events in a tournament held recently at Politeknik Seberang Perai. All in all, they took back a gold medal, some silver and bronze medals.
