POCKET DYNAMITE STRIKES AGAIN 2012

The school's x-country runner Muhammad Saad aka "Pocket Dynamite" did well in the recently concluded MSSPP Cross Country. He got 1st runner -up with a good time. Hopefully he will continue to train hard and persevere to get top placing in future.

INTEL GET SETT PROGRAMME 2012

This morning saw the school principal Mr. Seah giving a short briefing to all Form 1 girls regarding this programme. It is a programme sponsored by Intel with the aspiration of churning out future scientists, engineers and technologists.The school was lucky to be one of the schools selected.

The programme will be held on thew 12th March to 13th March at PG9 Building, Intel U, Intel Malaysia, Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone,11900, Penang.

Hopefully those selected will make full use of the opportunity given.

41ST PTA MEET 2012

This morning saw the 41st PTA AGM successfully conducted with a reasonable number of parents turning up. All the minutes were passed and resolutions raised were also given due attention. The school wishes to thank the 2011/2012 committee and also to welcome the new 2012/2013 committee members.

SPM REGISTRATION BRIEFING 2012

This morning saw the teacher-in-charge of SPM registration Pn. Tay giving all the Form 5 students of the school a short briefing regarding the registration exercise for the impending SPM examination. Students were informed on the procedure and the documents required. I tis also the responsibility of the students to make sure they get prepared and registered for the examination at the end of the year.

CO-OP PROMOTION FOR THE WEEK

Once again, on a cloudy Tuesday morning, the teacher-advisor of Koperasi SMKHZA Bhd did a promotion of new products during the morning assembly with fellow committee members. Prices quoted were very reasonable and competitive.

Students are encouraged to drop by the Co-op Store during recess to purchase the things they need for their folio and projects. Customised products can also be purchase or order.

GIRL GUIDE ACTIVITY

Last week saw the Girl Guides of the school having an interesting activity. It was how to make a fire. Some ex-seniors also came back to help. This activity can help the girl guides to make fire easily without damaging the soil and on any surfaces.

TALK ON LEARNING AND MIND MAPPING 2012

This morning again saw Mr S. Subramaniam from PTPL College visiting the school and also gave a talk on learning strategies and mind-mapping. The talk gave an insight on the intricacies of learning and also sharing with the students the art of mind-mapping. It was a very beneficial talk especially to the Form 5A and 5B students who were selected for the 1 hour and 30 minutes talk.

The talk ended with the students given a topic to create a mind-map. All in all, it was time well spent as the skills will be the students forever and may come in handy. Photos showing the event.

This afternoon saw the Senior Assistant for Students' Affair giving a comprehensive inhouse training entitled 3K which encompassed the elements of cleanliness, health and safety. Teachers were exposed to measures and strategies of making the school a safety, clean and health place for conducive learning.

PREFECTS INSTALLATION 2012

This morning saw the perfects of the school's prefectorial board marching in unison to receive the letter of appointment from the school principal during the official assembly. Later they also took to the front of the assembly area to take the oath before all the teachers and students pledging to do their utmost best to help the school monitor the discipline among the students and also carry out duties given by the school.

The SMKHZA Koperasi Berhad did a promotion on the multitude of products going at a special price this morning by one of the teachers-advisor. Buncho water colours going cheap and students were encouraged to get it from the co-op store in school.

Trail blazer Mohd Saad did the school proud by clinching second placing with a silver medal during the recent MSSPP cross-country championship in Butterworth, Penang. The school wishes to congratulate him on his fine performance and hopes that he will be a champ one day.

CHINESE NEW YEAR MAKAN MAKAN 2012

This morning the teachers and staff of the school were feted with a simple buffet lunch. It was in conjunction with the Chinese New Year. It had been the practice of the staff to have a gathering after each festival. It is a portrayal of the spirit of 1 Malaysia.

HPV INNOCULATION 2012

This morning a team of nurses from the Health Department of Penang came to the school and gave a brief talk to all Form 1 girl students. After that the Form 1 girls were given the HPV innoculation at the school's treatment room or sick bay. This innoculation is for the prevention of cervix cancer among teenage girls and women. As the saying goes, "prevention is better than cure."
